"Stop moving Conner,"
He groaned and shifted his weight again. His right leg was going numb. "I can't."
She sighed and opened her grey-blue eyes, fixing him with a gentle, reproachful stare. "If you can stay absolutely still while you're on a mission, I think you can stay still for half an hour of meditation."
"Lolly," he said dryly, "I'm doing missions for a purpose, to...to help save the world!"
She fixed him with a look and cupped his still sixteen-year-old face. "Meditation will help you to save yourself," she said seriously, all humour gone from her voice. He softened slightly, blinking at her.
"Okay," he said, suddenly feeling very small.
"Don't worry Conner," she replied, adjusting her own legs, "You'll get the hang of this no sweat."
Somehow he doubted that, as he crossed his legs again and wondered if it was really necessary that he meditate without a shirt on.
